Dawn Lynn Gill (Alderson) died peacefully on April 14, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 58.

Dawn was born on November 8, 1959 in Indianapolis to Gene and Carolyn Alderson. She graduated from North Central High School in 1978. Her daughter Tosha was born in 1985. Tosha enjoyed the next 7 years as an only child until her younger brother Samual was born in 1992 at which point Dawn began her unofficial career as a referee.
As a hard-working mother raising two children, Dawn was known to be able to outwork most of her colleagues. Her friends at Buzzi Unicem (Lonestar) spoke fondly of her as a friend and a dependable, hard-working co-worker over the years. She instilled that work ethic into her children. As hard as times were over the years, she was able to create an incredible amount of joy for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. A fearless woman with a tough exterior, Dawn fought back against a world that gave her every reason to hide her love. She openly expressed her love for her friends and family and taught her children to love with all of their hearts. A lesson they learned as typical siblings who grew from fighting as children to loving family who remain close to this day.

Dawn was blessed to build a new family in recent years as a member of the Paragon Bible Baptist Church in Paragon, Indiana. This family helped her on her journey to find God and she is looking forward to greeting them all again by His side. While we would say she can’t wait to walk with her family and friends in heaven, we know that she will be on horseback with a smile on her face that lives up to her name and lights up the world when we see her again.
A celebration of this great woman’s life will be held on April 28th, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Mooresville, Indiana from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Bring a food dish and your favorite memories of Dawn to share with those who love her. While Dawn loved nature, in lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to a charity that would be important to her – the Humane Society of the United States, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (search for the Dawn Gill Memorial Fund), or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
